The All-state choir process is a hefty process in which hundreds of students compete in their respective voice parts soprano, alto, tenor, bass, to make the region choir to move on to the next step.
Tons of students sign up for various reasons, most to better themselves in music or to put it on their college application, junior Kylie Miller signed up for these very reasons.
“I chose to do region because I love to do it. I love learning the music,” Miller said.
“It’s challenging and it gives me the opportunity to grow better as a singer because of it.”
Currently, students who have passed the region auditions and made it into the region choir are practicing for their pre area auditions which is the next step in the all-state process. senior Noah Moore hopes to shoot for a higher placement this year.
“I hope I make the pre-area auditions and get a better chair than I did last year, and I hope I make it to area additions,” Moore said.
Expectations are set for the Johnson Choir this year, which is why our jags should try their best for pre-area auditions. Sophomore Kate Parker agrees with this and proclaims she will do her best.
“I hope I know my music well enough and sight read well to get a good score,” Parker said.
The saying confidence is key really plays into the All-state process, it shows the judges that our jags are ready and prepared to make it all the way. Junior Klara Anderson still feels the jitters but is ready to go on with pre-area auditions.
“I am semi confident in the auditions,” Anderson said.
Everyone gets their honest placement in the all-state auditions, Parker expects her auditions to go swimmingly.
“I expect to make it either to the pre-area round or to the area round, but whatever happens I’m just glad to be a part of this experience,” said Parker. “I feel this way because I have more experience than I did last year and feel more confident.”
