The Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) will be continuing to sell chocolates to raise funds for their competitions this spring. The members will be selling the $2 chocolates after school in the bus pick up area until Feb. 7.
“It’s a fun and easy thing for our members to do,” DECA President Senior Mia Garza said.
The funds raised will help cover the dues and feesĀ students must pay to compete on the district, state, and international level. The club attended their district competition at Kalahari Resort in Round Rock last spring, while this year it will be hosted at McNeil High School.
“That was really fun for me,” Garza said. “Everything was really nice, and overall the way that DECA hosts their events they always try to get everyone really energized and excited.”
A group of 13 students from JHS will be making their way to competition where a total of 3000 students will be competing.
“It’s definitely a large community,” Garza said. “But it’s also somewhere you can have a lot of fun, a lot of new experiences, and meet a lot of new people.”
