On Tuesday, Feb. 18, the Jaguar’s varsity girls’ soccer team suffered a loss against the Steele High School Knights with a score of 2-1.
With this, they have been bumped from 2nd in the district to 3rd, with an overall score of 4-1.
“All the games for the rest of district we have to go undefeated in order to get a good enough spot in the top four to go to playoffs,” senior Sophia Beltran said. “We definitely have to go undefeated.”
Many teammates say they feel the rain and freezing temperatures had a major impact on their playing skills, and they could’ve performed better had the conditions been better.
“I think we could’ve had more energy, cause we just really let the weather affect us since we just wanted the game to be over quick,” sophomore Londyn Aviles said.
The next time they take on the field will be at home on Friday, Feb. 21st against San Marcos’ Rattlers. Despite the loss, players remain optimistic that they can take home a win.
“I’m looking forward to it,” senior Siena Beltran said. “We learned a lot this round, so we know our strengths and weaknesses better so we can work together.”
