The dance team, the Rosettes, competed at Dripping Springs High School on Feb. 21 and Feb. 22. They placed 1st Place Select Medium Team Hip Hop, 1st Place Select Medium Team Lyrical and became Select Medium Team Champions. Their next competition is this weekend, Mar. 1-2 and it will be their last competition of the season.
“I’m really proud of us,” Rosette Captain Skylar Powell said. “We really rose to the occasion.”

The Rosettes had also competed at the Dance Team Union (DTU) National Competition from Feb. 13-17. They placed ninth in large varsity hip hop, fourth in large varsity jazz and second in varsity lyrical.
“We were able to push ourselves in our dances like we never have before,” Rosette member Elliana Woodward said. “We knew that we had to, in order to come up on top of the other teams there.”
There were a total of 260 other schools competing from across the nation at the DTU competiton in Orlando, Florida.
“We’re really proud to come from a smaller town and be able to place that high,” Elliana said. “Our team is very passionate, we have really good team camaraderie so it’s fun to dance with each other.”
