The Jaguar’s varsity girls’ soccer team took home a win against San Marcos’ Rattlers with a score of 4-0 on Monday, Feb. 25, and they continue to remain third in the district.
“I feel really good,” junior Drew Taylor said. “Not only did we win, but we put up a lot of goals.”
The girls’ soccer team faced an unexpected schedule change due to challenging weather and had their game moved from Friday to Monday. Many girls reported feeling the pressure of having a game so soon before and after particularly difficult teams.
“It was a pretty decent game considering how it got moved from Friday to Monday randomly,” senior Peyton Ford said. “I feel like we didn’t put too much pressure on ourselves for having an upcoming game soon after our last.”
For their next game, the girls’ team will again take on Clemens’ Buffaloes on Tuesday, March 4 as a home game. Though many players are already feeling the pressure of their upcoming game, they are trying their best to ensure they will win again.
“We went against Clemmens already and lost to them last time,” sophomore Thea Carden said. “If we lose again, we’ll be fourth [in district] and on the brink of not making playoffs, so we have to lock in.”
