Jags look for third win against Austin High

Tonight the Jags play their first Thursday night game against 1-4 Austin High. Johnson is looking for their third district win to put them into the positive win category. Johnson has not played a team that only has one win this year, so some may say this could be an easier week for the Jags.

“Going into the game I feel pretty good,” starting wide receiver Colton Williams said. “We have had a good week at practice, so I’m definitely ready to get things rolling. Having played against these stronger teams it definitely takes some pressure off of us, but we still have to come out and perform like we do.”

On the defensive side of the ball the team is confident and are more than ready for the Maroons.

“We have to make sure we lock down their receivers,” starting safety Matthew Arnett said. “They really only have two flexs. They don’t have anyone else, so that’s really all we have to do.”

One of the Jags leading scorers is also ready to take down the Maroons, and put some more points on the board.

“Going into Thursday our main focus is just to stick to the game plan,” starting kicker and punter Patrick Hellen said. “Just trust in our teammates and we will execute. We feel very confident. We’ve had a really good week of practice, and are ready to beat Austin High helping us make it to the playoffs.”
