Rex Orange County, a well known singer/ song- writer, as well as multi-instrumentalist, has undergone some controversial events in his life. Despite sexual misconduct allegations made in October of 2022, he shows off his perseverance with his 2024 tour, “FINALLY”.
Rex had an amazing kickoff to his tour with his performance at The Auditorium in Chicago, Illinois, Oct. 4-5. As a pre-Halloween treat, fans were granted an opportunity to see the legend in person.
On Oct. 29, Rex performed at Bass Concert Hall in the heart of the University of Texas at Austin. The venue allowed for significant crowd interaction and held 2,900 people. Beyond this, the parking at Bass Concert Hall proved to be easily accessible and inexpensive, making the experience smooth and painless.
Rex Orange County has a phenomenal stage presence as he thoroughly engages with his audience, going as far as dedicating two songs to a woman in the crowd. Whilst performing, he showed dedication by acknowledging every member of his audience, walking through the stands, even shaking hands with the people sitting in front while mid-song. His set encapsulates the change and growth in people, highlighted in his new album, “The Alexander Technique.”
During his performance, he played songs from his new album as well as older songs such as “Best Friend,” “Pluto Projector,” and “Sunflower.” The range of music in his setlist caters not only to newer fans, but those who fell in love with his older music. Every song he sang was matched in energy with the lighting, never allowing a second for boredom to strike.
Rex’s venue choice was applaudable as well; big enough to hold a mass amount of people while also still maintaining a tighter fit so everyone got a good view of the stage. Bass Concert Hall was comforting and the staff were extremely helpful. Furthermore, Rex Orange County’s appearance at Bass Concert Hall really encapsulates his ability to continue his career after his past allegations.
Though this may seem small, his step towards continuing his future is significant as it provides hope for his fans and others. He shows that there is more to life than the obstacles thrown at us and that we can prove ourselves as more than them through dedication and commitment. To conclude, the Rex Orange County concert was a pleasure to have been able to go to, and is something we would recommend to all who enjoy music.
