The 25th annual Wiener Dog Races were hosted last weekend by the Buda Lions Club. The country fair was a two-day event, from April 23-24, and included many activities and events to keep people and dogs alike entertained.

¨The Wiener Dog Races were fun,¨ junior Travis Burkhart said. ¨Lots of activities, like bean bag toss, also shops for dog toys, and great hotdogs and funnel cakes.¨

The country fair began with a pet parade, and was followed by the titular Wiener Dog Races. The fair also included a BBQ cook-off, live music, arts and crafts, and games for everyone that showed up.

¨Before the races, I walked around with my dog, Milo,¨ Burkhart said. ¨Milo got fourth in one of the races, and afterward, he was tired.¨

All proceeds made during the event went to the Buda Lions Club, which works to provide to the community and to people all over the world with vision impairments and other disabilities.

¨Overall, it was a fun event for the community, and was my first year with my dog participating in the races,¨ Burkhart said. ¨I look forward to next year´s Wiener Dog Races.¨
