Johnson High School football took on Steele while honoring seniors as the 2025 season came to an end with another loss on Nov. 7.
“The results didn’t show, but this week was really great for us,” senior Dre Giello said.
The game kicked off with a rough start for JHS as the offense struggled to get hands on the ball. But by the second quarter, defense picked it up and allowed the team to score their first and last touchdown of the night.
“We came up with a game plan to best attack them, find their weaknesses and get the ball in the playmaker’s hand,” assistant coach Chris Armatta said.
Based on the results, everything afterwards went sideways, with JHS’s failure to prevent Steele from piling up points. The team was in turmoil with little chance for redemption.
“I was really pushing for that play-off win, trying to keep going even when the season was bad,” senior Jace Tello said. “This was my last ever football game, so I was really excited.”
Although JHS came up short and was unable to go to playoffs, JHS football as a whole had bright moments as seniors finished the season with their heads high.
“It’s the culture that makes Johnson’s football so important,” Giello said. “Sports in general play a big part in high school culture.”
